Macao Orchestra is a prestigious professional ensemble based in Macao, with the tenet of Blending Chinese and Western Cultures, Interpreting Traditional and Modern Classics”, the Orchestra is committed to presenting high-level musical performances to audience.

The Macao Orchestra is seeking highly qualified and motivated candidates for the following full-time positions:

Monthly Salary and Benefits:

  • Associate Concertmaster: from MOP 47,000 (approx 5,800 USD);
  • Section Principal: from MOP 41,000 (approx 5,100 USD);
  • Tutti: from MOP 32,900 (approx 4,000 USD);
  • All positions include a monthly allowance of MOP 3,000, 13th-month salary, paid annual leave, health insurance and other benefits as stipulated by Macao Orchestra Company Limited.

Responsibilities:
To participate in rehearsals, concerts and recording sessions in both indoor and outdoor settings. As a member of the full orchestra. In chamber ensembles. As a soloist.

Application Requirements:

  1. Must be at least 18 years old.
  2. Should hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Music, or equivalent qualification, for the respective instrument.
  3. Good command in English.
  4. A strong sense of teamwork.

Audition Process and Requirements:

I. Preliminary Round – Documents and Video submission

  • Application Method:

    • File Format: Name + Position + Document Type (e.g., “David Chan _Violin tutti_Application Form).
    • Email Subject Format: Name + Position (e.g., ” David Chan_Violin Tutti”).
    • Application Deadline: (GMT +8) 22nd Jan, 2026, 23:59.

(In order to ensure a fair audition process, late applications will not be accepted.)

  • Required Application Documents:
    • Application Form (Download)
    • Video Link (YouTube or Bilibili)
    • Diploma/Degree Certificate(s). (If the original document is not in Chinese or English, a certified Chinese or English translation must be provided.)
    • Curriculum Vitae (PDF), in Chinese or English.
    • Copy of ID Card or Passport (PDF).
  • Video Recording Guidelines:
    • Video recordings for the Preliminary Round will consist of two parts:
      • Solo Piece(s), and Orchestral Excerpts as specified in the audition repertoire list.
      • Orchestral excerpts should be performed in the order listed.
    • Candidates may record their solo piece(s) and orchestral excerpts together or in separate parts.
      • Video(s) must be done in “one-take”. There should be no edits for the duration of each part.
      • If the candidate chooses to record their solo piece(s) and orchestral excerpts separately, they should be submitted as one video file.
      • During pauses, the candidate must remain within the frame. And keep the equipment recording continuously.
    • Please take care to record audio at the highest possible level. The audio is guaranteed to be the original sound with no post-processing enhancements allowed.
    • Ensure the video and audio are clear, and the candidate’s face, hands, and instrument are fully visible throughout.
    • All solos and excerpts should be performed without accompaniment.
    • Please remark timestamps for each excerpt.

(Failure to follow the above recording requirements will lead to disqualification.)

II. Live Audition

  • Live Audition Requirements:
  • Invitation will be sent to the successful candidates of the preliminary
    • Macao Orchestra will cover round-trip travel expenses between the candidate’s place of residence and Macao.
    • Macao Orchestra will arrange accommodation during the audition period as needs.
  • Live audition is conducted behind a screen.
  • This round includes Solo Piece(s) and Orchestral Excerpts, selected by the audition committee from the audition excerpts list.
  • No accompanist is required.
  • Please prepare your own sheet music. Sheet music will not be provided at the audition venue.

 

  • Live Audition Date and Venue:
    Provisional Schedule: Late March to Early April 2026 in Macao
    The confirmed date and venue will be announced as soon as possible.

 

  • General Application Notes:
    • All submitted materials will be used solely for the purpose of this audition process. Documents will be treated confidentially and will not be returned.
    • The Macao Orchestra Audition Committee will review all applications. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted via email regarding arrangements for the live audition.
    • Late applications will not be accepted.
