Tibor Tóth ( Principal Double Bass )

Born in a family of musicians, Tibor started his musical education at the National College of Arts from his natal city Timișoara. At the age of 18 he won a full scholarship at the prestigious Reina Sofia Superior Music School from Madrid-Spain where he studied with Rainer Zepperitz, Principal Double-Bass of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Soon after beginning his studies in Madrid, he became a member of the Gustav Mahler Orchestra conducted by Claudio Abbado, recording many DVDs and CDs.

In 2006, he won a scholarship from the Gustav Mahler Orchestra and after successful admission examinations he continues his studies at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy from Berlin-Germany where he studied with Barbara Sanderling – Principal Double-Bass of the Konzerthausorchester in Berlin, and with Janne Saksala – Principal Double-Bass of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Before becoming Principal Double-Bass of the Macao Orchestra, Tibor worked as Double-Bassist at the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker and Deutsche Oper am Rhein and as a Principal Double-Bass in orchestras such as Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn, Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin, Bach-Collegium Berlin, Orchestra of Europe, working with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Sir Colin Davis, Sir Simon Rattle, Franz-Welser Möst, Iván Fischer, Simon Halsey, Seiji Ozawa, Myung-Whun-Chung and many others, recording various CDs with labels such as Deutsche Grammophon, Virgin Classics and EMI.
