Macao Orchestra presents the concert “Legendary Symphonies” on 15 May

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) and coordinated by the Macao Orchestra Company, Limited, the concert “Legendary Symphonies” will be held on 15 May (Sunday) at 8pm at Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. Under the baton of renowned Chinese conductor Huang Yi and in collaboration with the Principal Horn of the Macao Orchestra Wu Tianxia, the Macao Orchestra will perform repertoire of classics by Ludwig van Beethoven and Richard Georg Strauss, presenting a spectacular symphonic concert to the public.

Conductor Huang Yi, one of the most prominent conductors in China’s classical music scene, is currently the Permanent Conductor of the China Philharmonic Orchestra and the Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Kunming Nie Er Symphony Orchestra. He will join hands with the Macao Orchestra to present Beethoven’s Egmont and Symphony No. 3, both of which are tributes to heroes, conveying a magnificent and strong will through melodious music. The Principal Horn of the Macao Orchestra, Wu Tianxia, will be the soloist in Richard Strauss’ Horn Concerto No. 1, demonstrating his extraordinary horn techniques.

IC has been strictly following the anti-epidemic guidelines of the Health Bureau and implementing appropriate measures for cultural activities. The maximum indoor capacity for the concert is limited to 75%. In accordance with the epidemic prevention guidelines of the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, members of the public must present one of the following documents before entering the venue: proof of completion of the whole course of the COVID-19 primary vaccination series (which includes two doses of the inactivated vaccine or the mRNA vaccine) for 14 days (as shown in the Macao Health Code with the “golden frame”) or a negative nucleic acid test result issued within 48 hours. Those who fail to provide the aforesaid documentation are not allowed to enter the venue. Tickets are not refundable. All members of the public must undergo a body temperature check before entering the venue; those who have a fever or respiratory symptoms are not allowed to enter the venue.
