To usher in the New Year, it is a time-honoured musical tradition for orchestras around the world to present a musical feast by the Strauss family. On the New Year’s Eve in 2019, Macao Orchestra is pleased to perform with the beautiful and gifted outstanding soprano Marysol Schalit, under the baton of celebrated Austrian conductor Thomas Rösner, bringing to music aficionados the elegant ‘Voice of Vienna’ featuring a rich variety of works by the Strauss musical dynasty. Strauss works I and II are still the core of this New Year concert, in addition to a few specially selected compositions that were seldom performed, such as Johann Strauss I’s Seufzer-Galopp, Johann Strauss II’s Furioso Polka. Moreover, Otto Nicolai, Eduard Künneke, and Franz Lehar’s respective overture or aria will add flair and flavour to this musical feast.
