At just 19, British-Chinese violin star Leia Zhu has been hailed as a “musical prodigy beyond her years”.Sibelius’s Violin Concerto was composed in 1903, subsequently revised after a disappointing premiere. Now celebrated as a major work, it contains many iconic characteristics, including its main theme being introduced by the soloist right from the beginning of the first movement and dramatic double stops throughout. Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 bears testament to the composer’s synthesis of symphony with song, the final movement featuring a soprano singing “Das himmlische Leben” (The Heavenly Life), an uplifting portrayal of the afterlife. Mahler once said each of his symphonies is “its own world”, a glorious kingdom in which to immerse ourselves.

Due to programme adjustments, the artists for the following two concerts have changed: “A Bright Shining Star – HIMARI” scheduled for 13 June 2026 and the Macao Orchestra 2025–26 Season Closing Concert “Chopin by Rafał Blechacz” scheduled for 25 July 2026. The repertoire and venue remain unchanged for both concerts. The updated concert information is as follows:

Ticket holders for “A Bright Shining Star – HIMARI” or “Chopin by Rafał Blechacz” can use their original tickets to enjoy the new performances, or can choose to process a refund at any Macau Ticketing Network branch during office hours before August 1st by presenting their complete physical tickets.

Tickets for both concerts will be resold at 10:00 AM on 7 May 2026 at Macau Ticketing Website.
