To launch this momentous season celebrating the world’s most iconic musical figure, the Macao Orchestra showcases not only Beethoven but also two of his pioneering successors. With resplendent brass, Paul Dukas’ Fanfare from his ballet La Péri heralds a new beginning. Two pillars of the standard orchestral repertory follow suit. Chopin’s quintessential Piano Concerto No. 1 features soloist Eric Lu, the recent Chopin Piano Competition laureate praised by The Guardian as “a veritable poet of the keyboard”. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, widely beloved for its perfect structural balance encompassing grandeur and subtlety, has resounded globally for more than two centuries.
