“At the cross her station keeping stood the mournful mother weeping.” – The Stabat Mater is a fixed form of Catholic music, a tragic song expressing the sorrow of the Virgin Mary at the death of her son Jesus. Pergolesi, an Italian musical genius from the 18th century. Although he only lived to be 26, he left us a beautiful, touching symphonic work before he died. On the cusp of Easter, Macao Orchestra is happy to invite German soprano Anna Karmasin and mezzo soprano Susan Zarrabi to perform this unique ‘Swan’s Song’ with us. In addition, the Macau Orchestra will premiere the first movement of the“Echos from Old Macao”, created by the Macao composer Lam Bun Ching in 2016, which recalls her late mother and the nostalgic memories of old Macao.
