To celebrate the 450th Anniversary of the Catholic Diocese of Macao and the grand inauguration of the Macao Cathedral Pipe Organ, the Diocese and the Macao Orchestra proudly present a masterful musical event: Dedication of Macao Cathedral Pipe Organ and Inaugural Concert “Recital by Notre-Dame de Paris Organist Thierry Escaich”.

Thierry Escaich – Titular Organist of Notre-Dame de Paris

Escaich is the one of the four titular organists of Notre-Dame de Paris, an internationally acclaimed composer and improviser, renowned for his passionate and energetic performance style. In 2024, upon the reopening of Notre-Dame, he was appointed as its principal performer.

Thierry Escaich has received five Victoires de la Musique (2003, 2006, 2011, 2017, and 2022) , establishing himself as a major figure in contemporary music. Beyond traditional recitals, he has also presented film concerts worldwide, improvising organ and piano accompaniments to silent films.

Inaugural Performance of the Cathedral Pipe Organ

The Cathedral of the Nativity of Our Lady, renowned for its elegant architectural style, has recently completed the installation of a state-of-the-art pipe organ. Designed and built by a renowned Canadian organ company, the instrument combines masterful craftsmanship in wood and metal, seamlessly integrated into the sacred space.

This concert marks the inaugural performance of the Macao Cathedral Pipe Organ, preceded by a blessing ceremony.
