In celebration of the 26th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland, the Macao Orchestra will present the Concert of Celebration of the 26th Anniversary of Macao’s Return to the Motherland “A Medley of Chinese Classics” held at the Macao Cultural Centre Small Auditorium on 18 December! Since the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the city has flourished with its cultural and artistic scene thriving like never before. The Orchestra will pay tribute to this remarkable history through music, linking heartfelt patriotism and cherished memories of the city.
This concert features iconic works by six distinguished composers, showcasing the diversity and depth of Chinese music: Doming Lam, a Macao-born composer, offers a musical portrait of light and steadfast vigilance in “GUIA The Lighthouse of Macao”, symbolizing the spirit of the city; Chen Qigang’s “L’Éloignement” draws inspiration from traditional Shanxi folk songs, evoking poignant nostalgia and a deep sense of longing for home; Bao Yuankai’s “Sights and Sounds” Selections take inspiration from folk melodies, portraying the vibrant cultural landscape of China.
