The beauty of kindness, ridicule toward the evil and the sympathy for the grassroots underlie the quirky movements and funny plots of Charlie Chaplin\u2019s movies, the King of Comedy, with every movement performed telling a story. When sound films were sweeping the world, Charlie Chaplin responded to its arrival by composing the score for the film, with music seamlessly interweaving with the plot and the movement of actors, emotions in the silent film get more exuberant and vivid, translating to a revelry of laughs.<\/p>\n

City Lights <\/em>marked the first time Chaplin composed the film score. The story tells about a tramp, starred by Charlie Chaplin, who falls in love with a beautiful, blind flower girl, and rescues a drunken millionaire. Even in trouble, the kind tramp tries to help the girl he loves. In The Gold Rush<\/em>, the tramp has become a gold prospector\u00a0and later is trapped in a snowstorm with a wanted criminal; desperate to fill the stomach, they have to cook and eat their shoes. Two movies are written and directed by Charlie Chaplin, including composing the soundtracks. In addition to big laughs, audiences can discover the music talent of Chaplin in these movies.<\/p>\n

City Lights <\/em>and The Gold Rush <\/em>will be screened in two cine-concerts respectively; a corresponding live accompaniment will be performed by the Macao Orchestra under the baton of Timothy Brock, rendering the power of images and music in a perfect manner. As a prestigious figure in film scores, Brock was commissioned by Chaplin\u2019s family to restore scores for twelve Chaplin films, bringing back the original scores of this comedic legend of silent movies in full.<\/p>\n
