Among the various types of Western music, ‘chamber music’ has the most diverse forms of instrument combination, so composers often takes it as a testing ground to explore style and innovate the art. The two works presented in this concert fall into this type: Mozart’s K. 563, although named as a divertimento, is a mature string trio with depth, quite different from most other divertimentos by his contemporaries; on the other hand, Schumann’s Op. 44 combines piano with a string quartet, creating a new type of piano quintet in history and thus creating a profound impact on future generations. Now, please enjoy the enchanting music, and appreciate anew the great composer’s creativity.
