A composer with a classical penchant for the Romantic period, Felix Mendelssohn combined the classical tradition with romanticism, creating works showing solid compositional skills and a sense of innovation in tune with zeitgeist. His extensive travels and performances throughout Europe contributed to poetic portrayal in his compositions, one of his well-known musical characters. This concert presents Mendelssohn\u2019s Overture to the Hebrides and Symphony No. 3 “Scottish”, two works that not only vividly express his love for Scotland\u2019s distinct natural beauty and culture but also reflect his unique musical style and personal spirit and taste.<\/p>\n
