The Macao Orchestra (OM, from the Portuguese acronym) under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presented the concert \u201cPiano Encounter \u2013 Meet Alice\u201d, part of the Shining Virtuosos series, on 21 January, at the Macao Tower Auditorium. Under the baton of the Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Macao Orchestra, L\u00fc Jia, OM joined hands with well-known young pianist Alice Sara Ott, who gave an exciting musical performance featuring Robert Schumann\u2019s music from the Romantic Period.<\/p>\n

In the concert \u201cPiano Encounter \u2013 Meet Alice\u201d, Alice Sara Ott, hailed as one of the most talented young pianists in recent years, was invited to present Schumann\u2019s most important and famous work, the Piano Concerto in A minor<\/em>, offering the audience a show of rebellious classical music. Alice Sara Ott, a Germanic-Japanese pianist, conveyed Schumann\u2019s spirit of struggle for love through her performance of this Romantic piano concerto, closing each movement with dazzling piano melodies and reaching a triumphant climax with passion and confidence before ending with a beautiful finale that swept the audience off their feet. Under the baton of L\u00fc Jia and with Alice\u2019s exceptional skills, it had a profoundly moving effect on music fans, as they encountered Robert and Clara Schumann\u2019s obstacle-ridden love story. On 20 January, the activity \u201cMusic Hour With Alice Sara Ott\u201d was held at the Macao Cultural Centre Conference Room, attracting numerous of piano enthusiasts.<\/p>\n

Before Valentine\u2019s Day, the Macao Orchestra will also present the \u201cJapanese Drama Classic \u2013 Nodame Cantabile Music Concert\u201d, on 10 and 11 February, at 8pm, at the Macau Tower Auditorium. Under the baton of young conductor Yao-Yu Wu, in collaboration with Chinese-American pianist Claire Huangci, this concert presents the celebrated Japanese drama \u201cNodame Cantabile\u201d, a story based on classical music, evoking the witty love story between Shinichi Chiaki and Megumi Noda or \u201cNodame\u201d.
