<\/div><\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text]<\/p>\nThe Macao Orchestra, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, holds the chamber music concert\u00a0\u201cCheers for Youth\u201d at Dom Pedro V Theatre on Friday, 18 March, at 8pm. The concert features three pieces representing \u201cyouth\u201d in various senses.<\/p>\n
The highlight of the programme of the concert \u201cCheers for Youth\u201d is Czech composer Leo\u0161 Jan\u00e1\u010dek\u2019s Suite for Wind Sextet Mladi (Youth)<\/em>, regarded as one of the most representative works of the nationalist surge in the 20th<\/sup>century. Jan\u00e1\u010dek composed this piece when he was in his 70s, recalling his childhood and enriching it by adding a bass clarinet to the standard woodwind quintet. The concert also features the Little Suite for Strings (Nonet), Op. 1<\/em> a highly original and popular piece by Carl Nielsen, the most influential Danish composer of the early 20th<\/sup> century, as well as Russian composer Victor Ewald\u2019s Brass Quintet No. 3 in D-flat Major, Op. 7<\/em>.
