P<\/span>resented by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, <\/span>the <\/span>Macao Orchestra Company, Limited, and Wynn, <\/span>the concert <\/span>\u201c<\/span>The Rite of Spring<\/span>\u201d<\/span> will be <\/span>held on<\/span> 19 April<\/span>(Saturday) at 8pm,<\/span> at the Macao Cultural Centre<\/span> Grand Auditorium<\/span>. French piano virtuoso Jean-Yves <\/span>Thibaudet<\/span> will <\/span>visit <\/span>M<\/span>acao and <\/span>collaborate<\/span> with the Macao Orchestra and its Music Director and Principal Conductor Lio Kuok<\/span> M<\/span>an<\/span> for the first time<\/span>, to perform <\/span>Camille <\/span>Saint-Sa\u00ebns\u2019 <\/span>Piano<\/span> Concerto<\/span> No.<\/span> 5<\/span> \u201c<\/span>The Egyptian<\/span>\u201d<\/span>. The programme also includes<\/span> the work<\/span> The Rite of Spring<\/span> by Igor <\/span>Stravinsky<\/span>, <\/span>considered<\/span>one of the most significant <\/span>compositions<\/span><\/a> of the early 20<\/span>th<\/span> century<\/span> and <\/span>recognised<\/span> for its <\/span>grand <\/span>orchestration and <\/span>innovative<\/span> style. <\/span>On this occasion, <\/span>the Macao Orchestra will present this masterpiece<\/span> w<\/span>ith a line-up of over one hundred musicians,<\/span> offering the audience <\/span>an intense and <\/span>breath-taking<\/span> experience<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jean-Yves <\/span>Thibaudet<\/span> has earned <\/span>the <\/span>reputation<\/span> of being<\/span> \u201cone of the world\u2019s finest pianists\u201d<\/span> and is <\/span>well <\/span>known for his <\/span>interpretations<\/span> in the realm of classical music. <\/span>With an extensive collection of recordings<\/span>, he has made <\/span>over 70 albums and six film scores<\/span>.<\/span> Thibaudet<\/span> has received <\/span>two Grammy nomin<\/span>ations<\/span> and <\/span>won<\/span> numerous accolades, including the German Record Critics\u2019 Award, Diapason d’Or<\/span> (France)<\/span>, the <\/span>Victoires<\/span> de la Musique Classique<\/span> (France)<\/span>, the Edison Award (Amsterdam), the Gramophone Award (UK), and the Echo <\/span>Klassik<\/span> Award (Germany). He also performed the piano solos in the Oscar-winning film <\/span>Pride and Prejudice<\/span>, garnering widespread acclaim.<\/span><\/p>\n

With his extraordinary technique and captivating charisma, <\/span>Thibaudet<\/span> will <\/span>perform<\/span> Saint-Sa\u00ebns\u2019 <\/span>Piano Concerto No. 5<\/span> \u201c<\/span>The Egyptian<\/span>\u201d<\/span>, a work brimming with exotic charm and romantic flair<\/span>. The evening\u2019s programme will also feature <\/span>Faz\u0131l<\/span>Say\u2019s <\/span>Grand Bazaar<\/span> and Stravinsky\u2019s <\/span>The Rite of Spring<\/span>. Renowned for its complex orchestration and unpredictable rhythms, <\/span>The Rite of Spring<\/span> demands impeccable coordination <\/span>and technical mastery from <\/span>the <\/span>musicians<\/span>. The work not only redefined classical music conventions but also laid the foundation for many avant-garde and cinematic compositions that followed.<\/span><\/p>\n
