When Brahms composed this concerto, his ideal soloist was his friend, the famous violinist Joseph Joachim, who composed the cadenza for the first movement. Therefore, this concerto requires extremely high technical skills from the violin solo. Josef \u0160pa\u010dek, the Czech contemporary violin soloist, will collaborate with Lio Kuokman in Macao again to perform this masterpiece, known as one of the \u201cWorld\u2019s Four Greatest Violin Concertos\u201d. Some call Brahms\u2019s Symphony No. 2 his \u201cPastoral\u201d Symphony: the opening horn calls evoke the serenity of P\u00f6rtschach, the district in Austria where he stayed when he wrote this work. In contrast to the Sturm und Drang (\u201cstorm and strife\u201d) of his Symphony No. 1, we see a completely different side of the composer.<\/p>\n
