Now celebrated as a major work\, it contains many iconic characteristics\, including its main theme being introduced by the soloist right from the beginning of the first movement and dramatic double stops throughout. Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 bears testament to the composer’s synthesis of symphony with song\, the final movement featuring a soprano singing “Das himmlische Leben” (The Heavenly Life)\, an uplifting portrayal of the afterlife. Mahler once said each of his symphonies is “its own world”\, a glorious kingdom in which to immerse ourselves. \nApproximately 1 hour and 45 minutes\, including one interval \n*Notice of Changes to Performers for Macao Orchestra Two Concerts \nDue to programme adjustments\, the artists for the following two concerts have changed: “A Bright Shining Star – HIMARI” scheduled for 13 June 2026 and the Macao Orchestra 2025–26 Season Closing Concert “Chopin by Rafał Blechacz” scheduled for 25 July 2026. The repertoire and venue remain unchanged for both concerts.
